A:Chao are a friendly type of virtual pet which can be located in the more popular Sonic Games such as Sonic Adventure 2 battle for GameCube, Sonic Adventure 2 for DreamCast, Sonic Adventure 1 for DreamCast, Sonic Adventure: DX for GameCube, and for handheld (Gameboy advance & higher) , SA1, SA2, & SPP.

They live inside a "Chao garden", where you can decide their future depending on what you feed them and how you treat them!

Q:What's the Chao garden?

A:You get this main Chao Garden by default.. AS soon as you take your first step into the Chao World this should be the only door open aswell, and when you get in you will be introduced to 2 eggs. That's what starts this world of Chao. Remember, that them 2 eggs, are normal type chao, meaning, when you evolve them, they will have the evolutions special colors!

Q:What's a Dark garden?

A:The Dark Garden may only be obtained by evolving a baby Chao into a dark chao. No, you may not borrow your friend's dark chao and expect it to open up the gate, like I said, it must be involved in your garden!

Q:What's a Hero garden?

A:This Garden may only be obtained by raising your very own "Hero" Chao. Yes, only. You may not borrow your buddy's Hero Chao and expect the Hero Garden to open up.. you must raise it yourself.

In order to get your very own Hero Chao, you must feed one of your Chao Hero Fruits until it's caller is White/blue, or pet/feed it with a Hero Character. You may also abuse it with a Dark Character. You don't have to constantly feed/pet/abuse it though, when it is White/blue, it's basically ready to be a Hero chao.. all that is left is the time required for it to evolve. It's best to just leave your GameCube on and wait.. it takes 3 hours for a Chao to advance a year old. Though Chao don't exactly evolve at a year old.. so it may only be about a 2 hour wait.

If your Chao is not turning a white/blue, it is because you are not using a default Chao. Other ways to tell your chao is going to be dark is :

A) Angel-like wings
B) A fluffy tail

Now that you know how to get your Hero Chao.. let's talk about the aspect's of the Hero Garden:

A) "hero-like" music. (A hero-ish beat)
B) A sky blue and white sky. Pink Fluffy Clouds.
C) A fresh blue pond for your chao to swim in.
D) Different tree's.. but they do not contain hero fruit.
E) You can dig around for a Pumpkin hat *
F) A tower for you to climb on.
G) The Chao Transporter
H) A miserable glitch *2

* The head item is a pumpkin.. in order to find this pumpkin, you must dig around the garden with Rouge or Knuckles.. there are no specific locations as where to dig and find it.. it's very much random, so dig around anywhere!

*2 The miserable glitch.. If you have about 5 more chao [maybe less].. this is how it works.. You basically walk into the garden.. (If your like me you do NOT pick up chao during sleep, because they have that Dizzy symbol on there head). You may notice a chao that was sleeping swimming.. when you pick it up it will have the dizzy sign.. Why you ask? Why was it swimming anyways? Well your chao change position sleeping or not every time you re-enter the garden. On the tower, where the chao can sleep, the reason they were swimming is that they may roll over or be pushed a bit by a close by chao and fall into the water upon entering.. it's too fast to notice though. Though that explains the random dizziness.
